This beef roast recipe is one that’s been in my family for many years. Growing up, I remember my mom used to cook this on Sundays & we used to enjoy eating it with rice, dal & vegetable or salad. Now I cook this dish for my family & they too love it very much.
Ingredients
Marinade
- 500 gms Beef whole roast piece
- 1 1/2 inch ginger
- 6 garlic cloves
- 2 green chillies
- 15-20 peppercorns
- 1 lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
Gravy/tempering
- 2 tbsp oil
- 3-4 Dry Red chillies
- 10 curry leaves
- 1 inch cinnamon stick
- 5-6 cloves
- 10 peppercorns
Instructions
- Clean & wash beef piece nicely. Drain all water & poke with fork nicely. Keep aside
- Grind all marinade ingredients. Remove in bowl, check spice, salt & sourness. Add beef piece & mix nicely. Let it marinate overnight in fridge
- Next day, remove from fridge & keep beef out for 10-15 mins
- Heat oil in pressure cooker. When hot add whole spices, red chillies, curry leaves & fry for 30 seconds. Add only beef (leave marinade in bowl) & fry on high heat nicely on both sides for 1-2 mins
- Add marinade & 2 cups water, close cooker & pressure cook for 1 whistle on high heat. Then lower the heat & pressure cook for 5-7 mins (cooking time will vary according to beef you use)
- Remove from heat & cool. Once all pressure is released, open & remove the meat. Slice into horizontal thick pieces or as desired & keep aside.
- Keep gravy on heat again. Check salt, spice & sourness. When little thick add the sliced meat, mix & cook for 1 min
- Remove from heat & serve.
