Rice and dal Khichdi my style. I created this recipe for my children when they were kids and now it has become our family favourite. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup rice
- 1/4 cup masoor dal
- 1/4 cup moong dal
- 2 inch ginger crushed
- 10 -12 garlic cloves sliced long
- 2 Maggie cubes chicken/vegetable
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 3 tbsp tomato ketchup
- 3-4 tbsp hot sauce
- Ketchup & Hot sauce according to your taste
- 4 cups hot water
Instructions
- Wash rice, dal & soak for 30 mins.
- Heat 2-3 tbsp oil in a vessel, add crushed ginger, when golden brown add sliced garlic & fry for 1/2 second.
- Add soaked rice, crushed Maggie cubes & fry on low flame 1-2 mins.
- Add hot water, turmeric, ketchup & hot sauce.
- Adjust salt, ketchup, hot sauce according to taste.
- Once it starts boiling turn heat to low. Cover & cook until rice is done and water is dried.
- Serve with pickle, pappads or raita
